My husband and I had our first prenatal class with Natalya, seeing as this is our first baby; we were overhelmed with questions and thoughts. I have to say, with one class with Natalya, we felt so confident with the information she shared with us. She allowed us to invision the day before it has even arrived! Her information has allowed myself and my husband to relax as we now know what signs to look for before we head to the hospital, medical terminology as well as ways to cope with the pain. Overall I would highly recommend using Natalya for any of your birthing needs. She has this calm energy about her and is confident with what she is doing. She is the calm to the storm!

I originally contacted Durham Region Douas as we we not sure if my husband would make it in time for the birth. It is difficult to put into words just how special Natalya is – as a person and as a doula!

Natalya started with us and our twin boys on our second night home from the hospital and stayed with us right through until they were 5 months old. Natalya is an extremely warm and kind person and has such a special way with babies and has a particularly skilled way of working with twins. From the moment we met her, she instilled confidence in us that our boys would be in very capable and attentive hands overnight so that we could rest well. She always listened attentively to our boys’ cues and came to understand their patterns intimately, helping to educate us as well. As a new mom, I learned so much from Natalya and would look forward to our nightly conversations and little teaching sessions on various baby topics such as how to bathe a newborn, baby wearing, how to dress baby appropriately for weather, and so many other topics. If you have the chance to work with Natalya, and certainly if you have twins, consider yourself very fortunate. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts and we will miss her dearly.

lucas1 When Mike and I found out we were pregnant, we were so excited and wanted only the best for our unborn child. We chose the midwife route because we wanted the freedom of choice and the intimate care we could only get from midwifery.
I realized through my journey I was missing something and when my naturopath educated as to what a Doula is and how they can make your birth experience much more relaxing; I knew this is what I was missing. Natalya came into my life 2 years earlier on the professional side; so, when I found out she became a Doula, it was like Fate wanted us to meet. We had 2 prenatal sessions with Natalya. She was so warm and inviting and provided Mike and I with a lot of knowledge during our first session. She had answers to every question and gave us a few sources to watch. By our second visit, she helped us through various options for our pre-labour and it we had a lot of fun..

On the big day, she literally had to drop everything to be at our side. She was so caring and amazing every step of the way. Her support was unconditional and it felt like we had an additional family member at our birth. Natalya also came for a post-natal follow up and was happy to help anyway she could. She has become so special to our family and we are forever grateful to Lucas’s Doula!!
We can’t wait to share our next child’s experience with her and I would encourage you to consider Natalya for your birth experience.

Having Jacquie as our doula for the birth of my son was so incredibly helpful and truly made the labor and birth process less stressful and intimidating for my husband and I. We were on the fence about hiring a doula because we didnt know anyone who had done so before, but after my experience I can say I am so thankful we decided to hire Jacquie. From relaxation techniques, to massage, laboring positions, music, helping us understand all the info thrown at us in the hospital, tips and tricks to ease the pain, to helping so much during the pushing process that I was able to avoid the use of the vacuum, she was involved and helping in whatever way she could, every step of the way. I would absolutely have her as my doula at the birth of my next baby!

My birthing experience was so amazing because Jacquie was my doula. We met prior to my due date in order to discuss the details of my labour and she honoured all of my wishes. She was present for my entire labour, supporting every decision I made. My husband was more relaxed as he knew someone was by my side when he needed to leave me at any point. After my son was born, she immediately pulled out my camera and took photos and videos of us as a family for the first time. She also helped me postpartum, providing me with some care items and calling to check up on me once we got home. Jacquie’s greatest quality as a doula is her unfailing belief in your strength as a woman in labour. When I thought I was weak she made me feel strong with her encouraging words. When I made a decision, she truly believed it was the best decision I could make and I felt empowered because of it. I wouldn’t think twice about hiring her again!
